Global Hand Washing Day [Oct 15, 2008]
The UN General Assembly has designated 2008 as the International Year of Sanitation, and on October 15, 2008, the first-ever Global Hand Washing Day was celebrated. Global Hand Washing Day (GHD) turned out to be the centerpiece of activities geared at mobilizing millions of people in more than 20 countries, across five continents, to wash their hands with soap at critical times.
